Garment Care

Garment Care

At School Trends we want your Leavers Hoodies and T-Shirts to last the long term, so we've put together a few tips to ensure your printed garments continue to look their best.

HOW TO CARE FOR YOUR LEAVERS HOODIES

Please bear in mind that wash care instructions on garments labels don’t take into account the print or transfer process – please read the below for details on how to care for your printed or transferred garments.

WASH INSIDE OUT

This applies to all garments! It helps protect the print and can stop colours fading.

WASH SIMILAR GARMENTS TOGETHER

We’re not just talking about washing whites and coloured garments separately. Try to wash garments of similar texture together, by keeping items that have buttons and zips separate from T-Shirts and Hoodies it can protect them. Harsher fabrics and zips etc can rub against softer fabrics and may cause prints to deteriorate.

COOL WASH

Not only is it better for the environment but it’s better for your fabrics and prints. High temperatures can fade and crack print therefore to ensure they last the long-term wash cool! Obviously if your clothes are very dirty then turn up the heat following guidance on your garment label.

STAY AWAY FROM BLEACH

Bleach strips the colour out of fabrics therefore should always be avoided. Other strong detergents, such as fabric softeners can also damage the fibres in the fabric and dissolve the adhesive in print.

TUMBLE DRY

Dryers are great for saving time but not for your clothes! Heat can cause shrinking and can make prints peel. Therefore, hang out your printed garments on the line! You should also avoid dry cleaners for the same reason.

AVOID THE IRON

Again heat is not good, however if you wish to iron your garment use the coolest setting and ensure the garment is inside out.
