Hi I'm Jenny and I work in the Customer Support Team here at School Trends. Before I came here I was working in a solicitors office mainly completing admin duties, sounds a chore but I did get to meet some very interesting people along the way as I'm sure you can imagine!! When I first started with School Trends I began in the Sales Admin department, but since then I have either worked in or helped out in several different departments througout the business, such as Finance, Design and the Secondary division. I have enjoyed the variety of these roles but they have also helped me to gain a better understanding of the business as a whole that has helped me in my current position within the Customer Support Department. I love working for School Trends and I always have, the people are fantastic and the company is very flexible to suit everyone's needs. When I returned from Maternity after the birth of my first child I was able to come back as a part time worker, working 42 weeks a year, allowing me time with my family during School Holidays, brilliant!!!

Hi, my Name is Charles and I work in the Processing Department at School Trends. Before I came to work here I had spent 20 years in the Steel Industry, usually moving companies due to recessionary redundancies, finally settling at Carrs in Holbrook making Silver photo frames. While at work in 2004 I suffered a heart attack and after a long recovery I found it virtually impossible to find a work that I had been used to. Thankfully in 2005 School Trends gave me a chance to see what I was capable of, which restored my self esteem and gave me a new lease of life. School Trends has also supported my development too, the only national accepted certificate I have is the NVQ 2 in distribution, Warehouse and Storage Operations which I gained here at School Trends. In over 40 years of working I can honestly say that I have never seen so many kind, caring and helpful people under one roof. It never ceases to amaze me how great people treat each other.

Hi my name is Jim Green and I work in the web sales department here at School Trends. I have a background in sales with 20 years experience as a sales rep within the Steel Industry and a further 9 years as a sales manager. But my time at School Trends nearly didn't happen! I came for my interview and although they were very impressed with me I was pipped to the post by another candidate, I was asked if would like to be considered for any future roles, which of course I said yes to, and in less than 2 weeks time they had called me back and offered me a position. The rest as they say is history! I was invited to the uniform sales agm even before my contract had started so that I could meet all of the other reps and it was a fantastic experience, by the end of the first day it felt as though I had known everyone for years! Two years ago I was offered the opportuntiy to transfer my skills over to the new web division of the business, I was hesitent as it was something completely new to me, but with the support and encouragement of my manager I made the move and it's been great! The best thing about working for School Trends is that even though I am a home based rep and don't come to the office often, as soon as I walk through the door I am made to feel part of the team. We're one big happy family.

Hi I'm Kelwin and I have been working here at School Trends since September 2004! Before School Trends I was worked for two major market leading companies Northern Foods and VF Corporation in Supply Chain and Finance, which is where my background lies. I joined School Trends as Supply Chain Director with added financial responsibility, which then led me to be Group Director, leading our Finance and IT departments. When we bought Blue Spheres in 2006 I took on further responsibilities with the supply chain for our new division of web, finally taking the position of Managing Director for Web in June 2007. The last four years have seen many changes and challenges within School Trends and we have all worked together as a community to find success at the end of them. You can honesty feel you are making a difference as you effect the business with your contributions alongside a true sense of ownership that I have not experienced before in my former companies. The people are great and the community spirit makes School Trends an extremely friendly place to work in. |

Before joining School Trends I completed a BsC (with honours) degree in Computer Science at Wolverhampton University in the summer of 2005. I was then employed by Blue Spheres as a first line support officer and junior PHP developer. After six months of fixing bugs and supporting customers I got promoted to my current position as a web developer. In 2006 Blue Spheres was aquired by School Trends and from that date I officially now worked for School Trends! I have developed within my role by attending external courses which have developed my programming skills. I also had a chance to learn a brand new programming language when I attended a weeks course in C Sharp and ASP.net programming in London. I have also attended many internal training days that have helped me to integrate with the School Trends community including two development days where I have not only been able to improve my team working skills I have also been able to help the local community and charitable organisations. What makes School Trends a great place to work is the friendly atmosphere, it's one of the most enjoyable things about working here and which helped me to feel at home when I relocated from the West Midlands to Sheffield in 2007. This atmosphere and the sense of community at School Trends made the experience of living in Sheffield for two years a great one. I have since decided to move back to the West Midlands to be closer to my family and School Trends has allowed me to carry on within my current role by being flexible with my work arrangements and allowing me to spend most of my week working from home. |
